Kia ora! Copywriting sounds complicated, but in theory, it’s pretty simple. Here’s the gist: 

  • Every day, I come up with interesting ideas that help our brands sell more stuff 

  • The best ideas come from briefs 

  • A brief is really just a problem neatly explained 

  • To solve a brief, I’ll come up with 3-5 solutions 

  • I then put the solutions in a presentation 

  • If the solutions don’t solve the problem, we go again 

  • Rinse & Repeat. 

  • I also work in tandem with an art director. He’s better with pictures. I’m better with words. 

  • We also check in each day with a creative director. They keep our ideas from getting too crazy. Or, god forbid, too boring.  

  • If all goes well, we’ll solve hundreds of problems for our brands every year  

  • If it doesn’t go well, we come up with more solutions 

  • If it’s really not going well…I start updating my portfolio

Anywho, my pathway into advertising was pretty messy. Luckily, I had epic mentors who showed me the way. Now, I love helping others find their way too. I’m looking forward to chatting!
